I’ve always loved the holidays, but they’ve been made even more meaningful as we watch our daughters grow and experience the magic of the season for themselves. The house is decorated for Christmas, the kids are brimming with excitement, family is together, and the joy of giving and love is in the air – it just doesn’t get any better than this!
It’s been some time since I’ve posted a new blog on the site…and I was starting to feel a little guilty. This summer has flown by entirely too fast for my liking! Between time spent with family and friends, growing my little business, and making new friendships through custom cake orders, there hasn’t been a lot of leftover time for TLC on the site!
Though I have a handful of wedding events under my belt, last Wednesday night marked my very first wedding cake tasting with one of my future wedding clients. I couldn’t have shared this first tasting with two more joyful, happy, and kind individuals. The beautiful bride-to-be and her fiancé were possibly the cutest couple around – and couldn’t be more excited to indulge in cake (which makes me love them even more)!
It’s amazing how far this little in-home business has stretched…not to mention all of the beautiful people I have met in the process. This next order was placed by one very loving mother for her daughter’s Sweet Sixteenth birthday. Her daughter wanted a camouflage/outdoorsy themed cake, but also wanted to preserve small feminine elements within the mix.
I never grow tired of making a classic princess dress themed cake, so I was very excited when I received this order! I think it’s the fairytale quality that’s so enjoyable to craft... Or perhaps it’s that I’m able to combine my love for fashion with my love for cakes. I mean, who wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to make a princess dress out of sugar?!
